Week 8: In class reflection
Working through Tom Momberg's assignment allowed me to critically engage the writing I have already done. By asking me to interpret my own writing into a six word memoir, I was forced to translate what I had already written into a more restrictive form. In accordance with Bartholomae's view of successful instruction on the writing process, this assignment interfered with an absolute understanding of my subject and forced me to reexamine my argument. This taught me the value of crossing genre and formal boundaries when approaching an area of discourse. Viewing a concept through a variety of lenses only expands your appreciation of it. The structure of the assignment was somewhat informal, and due to a minor confusion with some of the wording, I am aware of the importance of clarity when crafting assignments.
