Research topic
I will be investigating the qualitative research question, "Are video games viable pedagogical tools for the future?" I chose this topic because it gives me the opportunity to illuminate a specific facet of contemporary culture that I find very interesting. As a child of the information age, who still remembers putting together his first family computer, I am intrigued by the affects of digital media on the education process and cognitive development. I was already familiar with the concept of rhetoric and its applications to the writing process when entering this course. That being said, the Crowley reading, and more specifically, the four stasies gave me a powerful new tool in examining topics for research prior to the writing stage. Using the different levels of rhetorical questioning, I determined what I believe will be a successful research question without entering the writing phase. Once I begin writing, I expect the Lindemann article to be very helpful in deciding the proper form and arrangement. While I feel like form often arrives naturally during the writing process, I hope to use the static paradigm concept to perfect my argument.
